Hutton of Mindon, La., in her Montreat Cottage on Virginia Road on Friday, July 23. The guest of honor was Miss Margaret Wardlaw of New York and Mon treat, whose marriage to Richard Reynalds of Atlanta and New York will be a prominent social event of this season. The wed ding will take place in Gaither Hall on the afternoon of August 28 at four-thirty. Mrs. Hutton’s attractive home was lovelier than ever with its bright decorations of gladioli, phlox, and sweet peas. Besides the guest of holier those present were, Mrs. Frank Wardlaw, Miss Page Lancaster, Mrs. U. J. L. Pepoles, Miss Mar garet Scott, Miss Georgia Norris, Mrs. Lewis Bailey, Miss Mary Andrews, Mrs. Fred Wortham, Mrs. Janies Wardlaw, and Mrs. Keith Townsend. The hostess presented Miss Wardlaw with a handsome gift of silver. MRS. BAILEY ENTERTAINS FOR MISS WARDLAW A delightful porch party was given on July 20 by Mrs. Lewis Bailey of Spartanburg at “Fair thorpe” on North Carolina Road. The guest of honor was Mrs. Margaret Wardlaw of New York and Montreat. Those in the receiving line be sides the hostess and guest of hon or were Mrs. Frank Wardlaw, Miss Page Lancaster, and Mrs. U. J. L. Peoples. From a beautifully decorated table, punch and cake were served by Mrs. Nisbet of Charlotte and Miss Mary Andrews. Assisting were Misses Ann and France Bailey, Margaret Wright, Mary and Jean Nisbet. About seventy five guests called during the afternoon. MRS. WATSON HONORED WITH SHOWER Mrs. Robert Watson was sui’- prised last Friday evening with a wedding shower at the home of Mrs. George Stone. She received many beautiful and practical gifts for her home. Those present besides the guest of honor and hostess were: Mrs. A. L. Stephens, mother of the bride; Mrs. J. L. Potter, Mrs. R. G. Summey, Mrs. Tom Summey, Mrs. Willis Lawson, Mrs. William Hummer, Mrs. R. E. Finch, Mrs. John H. Rice, Mrs. R. T. Hill, Mrs. B. W. Rowland, Mrs. Richard Oulahan, Mrs. Doug Hamby, Jr„ Mrs. R. H. Rice, Miss Josephine Finch, Miss Ethel Rice, Miss Mary Rice, Miss Muriel Higgin botham, Miss Alvarita Taylor, Miss Doris Blankenship, and Miss Nelda Silver. FINCHES ATTEND FAMILY REUNION Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Finch re turned Monday from a trip to Winston-Salem, Raleigh, and Bailey, N. C. On Thursday, Mr. Finch attended a board meeting at the Baptist hospital in Wins ton-Salem, after which he and Mrs. Finch visited their daughter, Mrs. Ludd J. Bryan in Raleigh. On Sunday they attended a family reunion in Bailey, N. C. Look WW S Heve! Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Bailey of Swannanoa, R. F. D. 1, are par ents of a daughter born July 21 in St. Joseph’s hospital. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Jackson are parents of a son born July 21 in St. Joseph’s hospital. MCDONALDS HERE FOR VISIT Miss Mary Elizabeth McDonald of Miami.
